Tape Deck Sales

Effective immediately (April 1, 2026) the tariff rates have changed to  a flat 10% across the board, regardless of where the product is made.  The 39% tariffs on Swiss made products (Studer decks) is down to 10%, and the 15% for Japanese and European made decks has also been reduced to the 10%.

The exceptions are tape decks made in the US, such as Ampex, Berlant,  and Crown. Those are not subject to any tariffs.

A customs broker still needs to be used to take tape decks into the US, and those typically are $70-150 US charges depending on the value of the deck.

Any sale or repair over $2,500 US will need a social security number  or a business tax number (EIN) for goods entering the US. This has always been  a US customs rule, even before the tariffs came into place in 2025.

Repairs

Canadian labor is exempt from any tariff/surcharges, as are US made parts (such as Terry’s Rubber Rollers). Other parts made in Japan or Europe will have a 10% surcharge added by customs.
