What we will do:
- change all main electrolytic caps that are known to fail. We only use name brand caps from Mouser or Digikey, no offshore no-name brand caps for our repairs!
- replace the record and ready bulbs with LEDs (see last picture)
- replace VU meter bulb
- replace the ‘cal’ switch as required
- clean all other switches and controls
- check all basic erase, record, and playback functions on both speeds, in a working Studer A80 from our stock
Caveats to this rebuilding service:
- any audio channel must be complete without physical damage
- all channels must be stock, with only qualified repair work done to any module previously (in other words, we won’t rebuild a module that’s been poorly soldered or hacked with acid core solder, etc)
- the PC boards must be in good condition without holes blown into them due to a smoke show, because someone replaced the 800mA fuses with tinfoil.
- NOTE THAT THE FINAL CALIBRATION OF THE MODULE MUST BE DONE AT YOUR FACILITY BY A COMPETENT TECH. THE FINAL CALIBRATION WILL DEPEND ON THE HEADS USED IN YOUR STUDER, AS WELL AS THE TAPE FORMULA, ETC. THIS CALIBRATION IS NOT A PART OF THIS REBUILDING SERVICE.
Right now we are only offering this rebuilding service for the audio channels. We may at some point offer the same service for the transport PC boards, but not at this time.
We have a ship-to depot in Wa state (zip 98230) as well as Langley, BC, Canada
